I’m Australian born, currently living and working in Los Angeles by way of NYC. I’ve been a working photographer for 17yrs. I can’t imagine not doing photography. Though I have a Creative Agency and a photography agency for people to hire other photographers, I still shoot regularly.
Women on the Roof!
This was one of the hardest shoots I ever did. I was commissioned to shoot a double-page ad for Angeleno Magazine. I was told it would be 18 women, it’s a large magazine, a double-page ad, I thought, yes I can make that work, 9 women per page. My team and I did a fantastic mood board for it and the women would be in couture fashion poolside. The news got out about the shoot and more women wanted to be in it. I was hoping not too many more since I had carefully crafted the whole thing.
Oh and to throw another challenge, they scheduled the shoot outdoors on a building rooftop at 12noon 🙈. There was no way for me to change it, I tried. I prepared the best I could, rented larger transmitters, and planned to blast the strobe lighting from across the pool. The day of the shoot came and 36 women showed up in couture evening gowns ready to shoot. I was given a 30mins lighting set-up and 30mins to place, art direct and do the shoot. They all had places to be ;).
Here’s the result below. Sometimes you don’t always get the luxury to do it the way you want, but stay confident and go for it!
Here’s a Pro Photo Tip
Stay engaged, creatively motivated, and shoot less, prep more. (even if it’s digital shoot as if it’s a roll of film, get it right in the first 3 frames)

Blackrapid is an excellent resource to study different pro photography mentors. My grampa worked in industry and as a child I saw Hasselblads and soon took courses around awarded National Geographic photographer who taught at college. My passion to learn better business approach and how to establish agent in photojournalism and landscape or some add shoots is a hope and Black Rapid is a great resource. I grew up in a family of WGA awarded global documentary producers and storytelling is important to me whether in still or 4k video shoots and I study cameras like others study race car statistics!! Thank you Black Rapid!!
